Preventing falls topic of upcoming virtual event

One out of four older adults will fall each year in the United States, making falls the leading cause of injury for seniors. But if you thought falling was just a normal part of aging, you are in for a surprise.

There are steps you can take to keep on your feet and avoid the risk of a fall, allowing you to stay independent longer.

Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor will host Fall Prevention for Seniors with Bonni Ledesma, MA CCC-SLP/L (master of arts certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology licensed) and therapy director with Aegis Therapies®, in a live virtual event at 2 p.m. October 15.

Ledesma will share tips for avoiding falls, improving balance and home safety.

Register online and join the event using your unique web link from your computer, tablet or smartphone.

Fall Prevention for Seniors is part of Presbyterian Manor's Just Ask series, a free, ongoing lifelong learning program featuring information from local, regional and national experts on topics of interest to older adults and their families.

RSVP to Whitley Stokes by calling 620-442-8700 or emailing wstokes@pmma.org.
