Assisted Living spotlight: Joe and Jolene Thomson

Joe and Jolene Thomson were living in Springfield, Mo. when they decided it was time to move closer to family. To help them find a place, the Thomson’s son, Eric, who is a doctor at South Central Kansas Medical Center, began looking into assisted living communities which eventually led the couple to Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor.

“Eric and our daughter-in-law, Wendy, took a tour of the Manor and then brought us along to take a look and we ended up really liking the place,” said Joe.

While moving to a new state can often be difficult, the Thomson’s say that their transition was made easier thanks to the friendliness they found within the community.

“The Manor is such a welcoming environment, its wonderful being able to stay in a place that provides a family-like atmosphere,” says Jolene.

In addition to the environment, Jolene is also enjoying all the activities available at Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor.

“The social life here is plentiful,” said Jolene. “There are so many things to do like play Bingo, have dinner with our friends, or talk to the friendly staff.”

Joe. on the other hand, sees a few more practical reasons as to why someone should look into living at the community.

“I recommend that seniors live here because it is nice to be able to get medical assistance when you need it, and not have to manage a yard,” said Joe.
