Lifelong Learning

Exploration, discovery and lifelong learning are vital components to living well and play a key role in healthy aging. Studies show that people who stay stimulated intellectually throughout life are typically happier and healthier. Residents of Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor routinely participate in a variety of activities that keep them actively engaged in the community and the world.

  • Our monthly "Health & Wellness Education" events are held on the 3rd Friday at 1:30. They will be open to both residents and those in the outside community. Topics will encompass psychological, spiritual and emotional health for seniors to go along with the physical health concerns with a variety of presenters from the leadership team at ACPM.
  • Many of our residents take advantage of the Golden Tiger Club at Cowley County Community College. These classes geared especially to seniors encompass a range of subjects including art, technology, and more.
  • Free WiFi throughout our health care center enables residents with a computer and Internet access to go online whenever and wherever they choose – from the computer center, the library or their own desktop, or for those with laptop computers, from anywhere in the building.

Just Ask

Our Just Ask Lifelong Learning series offers topics of interest to the broader community as well as our residents. Just Ask topics have included wills, senior scams, balance and falls, winter/summer safety, healthy eating, recognizing the warning signs Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia and recognizing the signs of heart attack and stroke.

In addition to hosting regularly scheduled meetings, instructional courses and an occasional impromptu program, Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor maintains a well-stocked library. Here residents will find a wealth of resources including large-print books on a variety of topics, a user-friendly large keyboard and mouse and a touch-screen computer for those with vision or hearing challenges, and an abundance of other printed and digital media.
